FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF POLYMERIC MICROSPHERES USING BOX–BEHNKEN DESIGN

Objectives: The purpose of this research work was to formulate and systemically evaluate in vitro performances polymeric microspheres nifedipine. Methods: Nifedipine containing two polymers, poloxamer 407 carbopol 934, were prepared by single emulsion cross-linking technique. Glutaraldehyde selected as the agent. A Box–Behnken design employed study effect independent variables, polymer concentration (X1), stirring speed (X2), glutaraldehyde (X3) on dependent variables particle size, drug entrapment efficiency, flow properties microspheres. Results: Results preliminary trials indicate that concentration, affected various characteristics formulated Microspheres discrete, spherical, free flowing. optimized batch exhibited with narrow size 75 μm, good properties, efficiency 96%. Conclusion: nifedipine excellent flowability successfully developed. These can be useful improving patient compliance bioavailability
